Today Oslo set a temperature high record. It was actually warmer here than southern Europe. I went for a walk. All the snow was gone today, and thing started to appear. This witch lay on the grass staring at me, together with an golden angel.
On the fifth print, you can see bronze inlays in the pavement in Oslo. This are reminders of norwegian jews who were deported during the war. At the start of the war, there were apx 1800 jews in Norway, some of them refugees from Germany. About half of the jewish population managed to escape to Sweden, but 767 jews were arrested and deported with the ship M/S Donau, the 25 of november 1942. As the dates show, they went straight to the gas chambers in Auschwitz. Ages? 22, 23, 43 and 52…
Of the 767 deported, only 34 were to return.

Winter is a´knocking…
Today its 25℉ and snowing like h*** outside. I am in an area where the winter its known to start early. And its now a stated fact.… I could´t resist the urge to run out in the blizzard to get some prints. After five hours it had snowed almost 4 inches! The last two prints are from later the same day…
All prints are the John S Lens and the Blanko Noir Film…
BTW
This is published the 9th of October. In Norway we write the date like this: 09/10/11 (DD-MM-YY).

Tools and shiny things…
I am undergoing some workers training… This includes Frank (me) doing things he don't know how to do… Such as painting, spray painting, and polishing metal objects… And handling large tools…
I have a new found love! ♥♥♥ The AO DLX Film. This in combination with the John S Lens makes beautiful black and white prints. Its a little gritty look, and I love it. These are actually my first try on this combination, and I will do some more. The texture of the dirty and ruff edged tools are just wow!
If anyone wonder, the language on the labels seen, are norwegian.

A hunters reward…
DO NOT read this particular blog entry if you don't like to see dead animals.
On saturday I was going for a bike ride in the woods. In the area I am now, the hunting season has started. Here they hunt for moose, small game and wolves. The hunt for the wolves is very disputed, because there are now believed to be less than 40 wolves in the whole of Norway…
I followed a dirt road into the woods, and after a while, I came upon a hunters camp in the woods. They had been successful in their shooting, and 10 heads of the moose where lying in the grass. In the barn, there were a cow moose. The hunter said she was one year old, but she weighed in at 386 pounds! Which is very large for a one year old.
The legs, and head is for the most part thrown away. They are also used for dogs, or bait to catch fox.
The carcass in the last two prints show it stripped and ready. The meat of the moose is considered as a gourmet dish, and is one of my favorite.
I had myself a 20 miles trip today. I didn't see any living moose, but I saw an eagle, a large capercaille, three woodpeckers, and a pretty girl… All in all it can be called a good day…
All prints are the John S lens. Desaturated prints are the BlacKeys B+W Film, color are the Blanko Noir Film.

Hipstafashion, the wet version…
I work as an professional photographer. Wether its a wedding, fashion or portraits, my Hipstamatic is always on my hip. And I always try to do some prints.
Saturday I did a fashion shoot by and in a river in Oslo. And of course I had to do some Hipstashooting as well. Some of the prints are a little fuzzy, but this doesn't bother me at all. It only adds to the effect and feel of the print. And yes, the photographer was more than knee deep in the river two.
The most annoying fact? The way the BlacKeys B+W Film darkens the edges (vignette), and the de-saturates the colors are beautiful. Some of the prints actually look better than the ones shot with my Canon. Straight out of the camera that is. :) After a little visit in Photoshop, the Canon files are better, commercially speaking.

River Stroll…
On my walk along the raging river Akerselva, I came upon these situations… Yes, I scared the doves into flying… Bad boy…

Murals and graffiti…
There is a new trend in Oslo as far as I know. In stead of tagging and graffiti, there has started to occur different kinds of expressions. As I discovered today, someone has glued smiley faces to walls, trees and fences.
I don´t like tags, where people go around and destroys private property with their ugly signatures. But this new trend with murals, graffiti with a message or other forms, I kind of like. Many of these has a political message, which I don't care about. But when it looks good, it looks good… Maybe there is a new wave of street art emerging?

Hiking…
We are blessed with a lot of nature around Oslo. Two weeks ago I hiked 18 miles in the forest east of Oslo. I walked for hours without meeting anyone but birds, and snakes… One harmless, but two vipers. The Norwegian viper is not deadly. Its commonly compared to a spicy bee-sting…
I am going back there, because there are endless routes to explore.
