Today Oslo set a temperature high record. It was actually warmer here than southern Europe. I went for a walk. All the snow was gone today, and thing started to appear. This witch lay on the grass staring at me, together with an golden angel.
On the fifth print, you can see bronze inlays in the pavement in Oslo. This are reminders of norwegian jews who were deported during the war. At the start of the war, there were apx 1800 jews in Norway, some of them refugees from Germany. About half of the jewish population managed to escape to Sweden, but 767 jews were arrested and deported with the ship M/S Donau, the 25 of november 1942. As the dates show, they went straight to the gas chambers in Auschwitz. Ages? 22, 23, 43 and 52…
Of the 767 deported, only 34 were to return.

Second snow…
In Norway you never can be sure that the winter is over. We had bare streets for almost two weeks, and then we woke up to this winter wonderland. It lasted only for one day though.
All prints are with the John S Lens and the AO DLX Film.

Frozen nuts and bolts…
The winter is starting to really make its presence.
Yesterday I was at a museum in Elverum Norway. This is close to the longest river in Norway, Glomma. This river is almost 375 miles long.
Because of the freezing cold and water, alt the nuts and bolts on the bridges were covered in fantastic snow crystals.
All prints are the John S Lens and the AO DLX film. The last print is my favorite. It resembles a painting rather than a photo…

Equus ferus caballus
Equus ferus caballus is the domesticated horse in latin. Ever since I saw the horse photography from Jens Haugen, a great norwegian photographer, I have been looking for the perfect Hipstahorse…
Today the fog lay thick all around, and I knew a place close by where they keep horses. I walked there, and talked to the owner. He permitted me access to the horses. I went into the compound and started to shoot.
The first horse was a distinguished old lady. She is about 18 years old. And she was so calm and gentle. She liked to be scratched on the neck.
The horse in the last three prints is another matter altogether. His name is Emil, and he weighs over a metric ton (2200 pounds)! Needless to say, I felt very humble and small next to this great creature. But he was at ease and let me stroke his side an nose after a few sniffs.
I used only the Johns S Lens, and the AO DLX Film.

The full moon and frozen hands…
Yesterday it was a perfect sunset, and then a low full moon. I seldom get such good prints when its dark. The combination of the moon and white snow did the trick. :)
This morning the cars were covered in ice, and I couldn't resist the urge to put my hands on the windscreen…
All prints are the John S Lens. Color are the Blank Noir Film, B/W are the AO DLX Film.

Today its 25℉ and snowing like h*** outside. I am in an area where the winter its known to start early. And its now a stated fact.… I could´t resist the urge to run out in the blizzard to get some prints. After five hours it had snowed almost 4 inches! The last two prints are from later the same day…
All prints are the John S Lens and the Blanko Noir Film…
BTW
This is published the 9th of October. In Norway we write the date like this: 09/10/11 (DD-MM-YY).

Tools and shiny things…
I am undergoing some workers training… This includes Frank (me) doing things he don't know how to do… Such as painting, spray painting, and polishing metal objects… And handling large tools…
I have a new found love! ♥♥♥ The AO DLX Film. This in combination with the John S Lens makes beautiful black and white prints. Its a little gritty look, and I love it. These are actually my first try on this combination, and I will do some more. The texture of the dirty and ruff edged tools are just wow!
If anyone wonder, the language on the labels seen, are norwegian.
